The Discover Food Festival, presented by the IRC in Salt Lake City and Charcuterie Artisans, will offer community members the opportunity to engage with and support local refugee and new American culinary businesses, featuring a variety of global cuisines. The festival aims to bring together over 1,000 community members to celebrate global food traditions and taste the rich culinary diversity available in Utah. Enjoy food from around the globe, live entertainment, and entrepreneur food demonstrations! Entrepreneurs at the event participate in the IRC's Spice Kitchen Incubator program, an initiative focused on serving culinary entrepreneurs working to start, sustain or scale their small business in Utah!
Located in the Artspace Greenery in Salt Lake City’s Granary District, Spice on 9th is a 1,200 square foot community-led space run by culinary entrepreneurs participating in Spice Kitchen Incubator programming as well as other small business owners receiving services from the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City to hone their food business skills and offer their products in a shared market. Spice on 9th opens August 25, 2023.

This event is open to the public and free of charge.
The annual New American Dream Lab is a friendly business pitch competition in support of New Americans’ entrepreneurial businesses. Participants share presentations about the small business they hope to grow. Presentations will be ranked by a panel of judges. Participants receive cash awards and other support based on their rankings during the event. Audience members will also have the opportunity to rank presentations.
A Spice Tasting Event with Prime Corn
This year Prime Corn will be extending the menu to ethically raised meat options and would like to know your thoughts to the new foods. Come and try a variety of new dishes, including Chicharron en Salsa, Panuchos, Picadillo, Fruit pudding, Aguas Frescas, and more.
Join us to get a first look at Prime Corn's new foods and provide valuable feedback on presentation, taste, smell, cost, etc. Feedback will be collected via electronic forms so please bring a cell phone or tablet to the tasting event with you.

You are invited to join the festivities at the Discover Food Festival, presented by Creminelli Fine Meats and the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City! Gather together to celebrate global food traditions and taste the rich culinary diversity available in the Beehive State.
The event will support entrepreneurs participating in the IRC's Spice Kitchen Incubator program that works to assist refugee and new American culinary businesses to start, scale and sustain their efforts in Utah.
Welcoming Week / Welcoming Salt Lake 2022
Welcoming Salt Lake is an annual celebration bringing together people and local events that celebrate the contributions of immigrants and refugees and highlights the role communities play in ensuring everyone feels welcome. This event, known nationally as Welcoming Week, will take place September 9–18, 2022. This year’s theme is Where We Belong.
Each year, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City is proud to join in on the worldwide celebration of World Refugee Day which is June 20. World Refugee Day offers communities around the globe the opportunity to celebrate refugees and to raise awareness of refugee stories, art, entrepreneurship and so much more.
The main event in Salt Lake City will be June 17 & 18 and is hosted by several organizations including Utah Workforce Services Refugee Services and the International Rescue Committee of Salt Lake City.

Join our Giving Tuesday Fundraising Campaign
Giving Tuesday is a day for people to reflect on their year and support their communities by donating to various causes and nonprofits. One week from today is Giving Tuesday and we are kick-starting our campaign!
Spice Kitchen Incubator's goal is to empower current and future entrepreneurs through food business ownership and advocacy. Your support further assists refugee, immigrant, and low-income individuals to develop successful and financially viable food businesses, preserve their culinary traditions, and share their talents with the Salt Lake community.
Our hope is to raise $3,000 during this week - just think, if 60 people gave just $25 we'd be halfway to this goal!
Welcoming Week / Welcoming Salt Lake 2021
Welcoming Salt Lake is an annual celebration bringing together people and local events that celebrate the contributions of immigrants and refugees and highlights the role communities play in ensuring everyone feel welcome. This event, known nationally as Welcoming Week, will take place September 10–19, 2021. This year’s theme is Belonging Begins with Us. In the past, this event has brought people together in person to enjoy food, culture, art and more. This year the event will be held mostly virtually, but it will be just as amazing!

Join Us at Hidirellez Spring Festival!
We will not be offering Spice-to-Go on Thursday, May 6th and instead invite all to attend a spring festival and fundraiser organized by Kahve Cafe!
"You're invited to join us in celebration of Hidirellez! This Spring Festival is celebrated in Turkey to welcome the arrival of spring as well as the awakening of nature.

Start your evening out by picking up a meal from our Spice Kitchen Incubator then join us virtually from your family table for a program focused on all that we’ve accomplished as a welcoming community during the pandemic and celebrating the contributions of refugees and New Americans in Utah.

On Friday, September 18th, Spice Kitchen Incubator will be offering a virtual cooking class.
Ashikat Kitchen is a catering business that cooks traditional Middle Eastern cuisine.
This cooking class will walk attendees through one of Saadiyah's favorite dishes, tepsi bathejan, a layered Iraqi casserole with eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, onion, and exciting spices.
Fundraiser for Yemen Children

Chef Abudu of Kafé Mamai is working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) here in Salt Lake City to raise funds to support the International Rescue Committee’s effort to feed the children of Yemen who face food shortages during the on-going war in Yemen.
Participating trucks so far include: Kafé Mamai Pinyoncafe (coffee and drinks), Hayat’s Grill (Afghan Cuisine), and Halab’s Jasmine Kitchen (Syrian Cuisine) with more to be announced.
Culinary refugee and immigrant empowerment organizations across the US and Canada are coming together to honor World Refugee Day 2020 with an online cooking event featuring refugee cooks and their stories! Join us for live and recorded refugee led cooking demonstrations, and a panel discussion moderated by celebrity chef Marc Murphy, on behalf of The Culinary Diplomacy Project.

Join Spice Kitchen Incubator in partnership with the Salt Lake Film Society for a free screening of Soufra. Post-film panel discussion with Spice Kitchen Incubator organized by the International Rescue Committee - SLC.
Soufra follows the unlikely and wildly inspirational story of intrepid social entrepreneur, Mariam Shaar – a generational refugee who has spent her entire life in the Burj El Barajneh refugee camp just south of Beirut, Lebanon. The film follows Mariam as she sets out against all odds to change her fate by launching a successful catering company, “Soufra,” and then expand it into a food truck business with a diverse team of fellow refugee woman who now share this camp as their home.
