Chef Saadiyah of Ashikat Kitchen

This week's featured chef is Saadiyah of Ashikat Kitchen. Saadiyah grew up in Iraq and Jordan and both cultures influence her cuisine. She learned how to cook with her parents in their family restaurant. Saadiyah hopes to expand her own business, Ashikat Kitchen, into a bakery and restaurant. Her favorite part about cooking is seeing the look on peoples' faces as she watches them taste her culinary creations. Ashikat Kitchen uses fresh ingredients and provides superior quality food through unique styles."

Entrées:

  1. Baked Chicken and Biryani Rice (16oz):

    Baked chicken leg cooked in tomato sauce with garlic, lemon juice, and onions. Served with biryani rice. (Halal, dairy free, gluten free)

  2. Vegetable Biryani Rice (16oz):

    Basmati rice chock full of chickpeas, potatoes, onion, carrots, green beans, and almonds. (Vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free)

Appetizer:

  1. Beef Fatayer (1pc):

    Traditional Middle Eastern savory pie handmade and stuffed with beef, onion, spices, parsley, and topped with sesame seeds. (Halal, contains gluten, dairy free)

  2. Vegetable Borek (1pc):

    Deep-fried Middle Eastern spring roll filled with potatoes, green onions, garlic, and spices. (Vegetarian, contains gluten, dairy free)

Sides:

  1. Green Side Salad (12oz):

    Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, green onions tossed in an olive oil, salt, lemon, mint, and sumac dressing. (Vegan, dairy free, gluten free)

  2. Lentil Vegetable Soup (12oz):

    A stewy mélange of green bell peppers, garlic, onions, tomato, black pepper, cumin, and celery. (Vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free)

Dessert:

Baklava Finger (1pc):

Delicate layers of phyllo dough filled with walnuts, drizzled with simple syrup and ground pistachios. (Vegetarian, contains gluten, dairy free)

Please Note: Orders close Wednesday, July 13 at Noon! Orders can be picked up, hot and ready-to-eat from Spice Kitchen (751 W 800 S Salt Lake City, UT 84104) Thursday July 14th from 4-6:30pm.

When you arrive for pickup please text us (385-202-5207) with the first and last name on the order, if you would like disposable utensils, and a description of your vehicle when you arrive. We ask that you remain in your vehicles and a staff member or volunteer will run your orders out shortly.
