Discover Food Festival - October 7, 2023

The Discover Food Festival, presented by the IRC in Salt Lake City and Charcuterie Artisans, will offer community members the opportunity to engage with and support local refugee and new American culinary businesses, featuring a variety of global cuisines. The festival aims to bring together over 1,000 community members to celebrate global food traditions and taste the rich culinary diversity available in Utah. Enjoy food from around the globe, live entertainment, and entrepreneur food demonstrations! Entrepreneurs at the event participate in the IRC's Spice Kitchen Incubator program, an initiative focused on serving culinary entrepreneurs working to start, sustain or scale their small business in Utah!

Discover Food Festival - September 17, 2022

The IRC hosted, in partnership with the Spice Kitchen Incubator and Creminelli Fine Meats, the 2022 Discover Food Festival. This event was made possible by dozens of volunteers, raised several thousand dollars for the IRC and the Spice Kitchen Incubator, and created $12,809 in sales for the participating Spice Kitchen Entrepreneurs.

Spice Happenings - Entrepreneurs Learn Tax Processes

Spice Kitchen Incubator hosted a 2-part virtual sales & use tax workshop with business owners last month. Many entrepreneurs hoped to learn more so they could do their own filing in the future, and one entrepreneur even asked if there would be more financial workshops in the future to continue to develop and understand the complexities behind the US tax system.

Over the course of late December, Spice Kitchen Incubator ran a 5-session workshop series entitled “How to Sell Your Own Food Box," covering topics such as permitting, social media marketing, and food photography.

Spice Kitchen supports with small business emergency loans

As soon as Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall’s Emergency Loan Program launched, the Spice Kitchen team started contacting small business owners in the program. They ensured every entrepreneur who qualified for the loan received the help they needed to complete their loan applications.
